TASTINGS + EVENTS

Check here for our calendar of tastings, classes and events.

Tastings – Every week at Greenlake Wines we feature a winery, wine region or theme. Our tastings are fun, educational and free. They are every Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and coincide with our Happy Hour where we feature three wines for $4 a glass and tasty food creations for $4 each.

Classes – Seattle Wine School, our affiliate, offers classes at our Elliot store. There we have a full classroom. Check out the events calendar for our future events!

Events – Two or three times a year we hold special sales as well as our famous roasts where we feature lamb, pork and salmon at no charge.  Richard always selects a great wine value to go with the food.

* WA vs. Napa Wine SmackDown! WA vs. Napa Wine SmackDown!

Time: 7:00 pm

It's time for a Washington state v/s Napa valley Wine Smack Down! I couldn't begin to count the times someone has asked me how Washington wines stack up to those from other regions, particularly Napa valley. While we're certainly proud of our local juice it can be pretty intimidating to consider matching them to some of the famous glam-vins of Napa. So I think its time to lay down the gauntlet and let the corks fly. This Monday at the Seattle Wine School at the Elliott Wine Outlet I will match up wines from both regions and see what happens. The class will begin with a brief overview of each wine region before the various varietals will be tasted blind and discussed in class. We'll see who can guess which wines are from where. Anyone who can place all the wines will win a bottle of wine. So taste for yourself and make up your own mind. Let the games begin! Class goes from 7-9pm. 35 dollars.

* Wine 101 ClassWine 101 Class

Time: 7:00 pm

I wish I had a class like this when I was starting my career in the wine industry. Back then there were no classes available to learn the basics of wine. It took me years just to figure out how to approach this vast and complicated subject. That is why I created this class and why I believe it is so important to anyone trying to understand wine. I will break out the different areas of study and give an overview of each along with advice about how to begin your studies.
